SOC 2: more than just compliance
SOC 2, which stands for System and Organization Controls 2, is a framework developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). It was designed specifically for service providers that store customer data in the cloud.
What makes SOC 2 significant is that it goes far beyond basic compliance checklists.
It evaluates whether a company’s controls are not only properly designed to protect customer data, but also consistently operated over time. It doesn’t just look good on paper, it proves that the company genuinely cares about security.
SOC 2 is based on five “Trust Services Criteria”:

Haiilo’s attestation focused on the first three, and the pillars most essential to our customers and product: Security, Confidentiality, and Availability.
What does SOC 2 Type II mean?
There are two levels of SOC 2: Type I and Type II.
- SOC 2 Type I evaluates the design of your controls at a single point in time.
- SOC 2 Type II goes further to examine how well those controls perform over an extended period (typically several months).
Haiilo has now completed SOC 2 Type II, the more rigorous version. This independent evaluation, conducted by an accredited CPA firm, reviewed our internal controls in depth, testing how effectively we operate to ensure your data is secure and systems are reliable.
In other words, it’s one of the strongest signals a SaaS company can send about its dedication to protecting customers.
